Background
"Give Children a Hand" is a Swiss charity that gives children with physical handicaps access to modern hand prostheses. For the affected children, such prostheses are much more than just an aid: they strengthen their self-confidence and simplify their everyday life enormously. In addition, they prevent mobbing, which children with disabilities unfortunately often suffer from.
„Give Children a Hand“ was founded in 2016 by Michel Fornasier, who was born without a right hand. Today he wears a modern bionic hand prosthesis that has changed his life from the ground up. He wants to offer this possibility to as many affected children as possible. Therefore, the charity is dependent on financial support.
Idea
We made creative use of the attention around the new Swiss banknotes and the hands shown on them for the campaign. The donors' money becomes the children's new hand. And it enables them to do all the things they wouldn't otherwise be able to do: ride a bicycle, learn an instrument, confidently stretch out their hand at school, drink from a fountain, etc.
Strategy
A separate motif was developed for each monetary value. From 10 Swiss francs (about 10 US Dollars) up to 1000 Swiss francs (about 1000 US Dollars). So we had the chance to address small donors as well as major donors and corporate donors, such as banks and insurance companies.
The print ads with higher monetary value were placed in business magazines, the motifs with lower monetary value were placed in general interest newspapers. The billboards with higher monetary value were placed in business districts, the motifs with lower monetary value were placed in the major railway stations. Every application was tailor-made.
Execution
Each of the new Swiss banknotes shows a different hand position. Each position enables a child with a physical handicap to do something that he or she would otherwise not be able to do. And that corresponds to his or her age and the dreams one has at that age.
