Dr. Doofenshmirtz – the bumbling evil inventor from Disney Channel and Disney XD’s Phineas and Ferb – would love to be a guest on Shark Tank, a popular reality show for hopeful entrepreneurs. Dr. Doof daydreams that he does, in fact, make it onto the show and pitches his latest invention, The Shrinkinator.
Promos on Disney Channel/Disney XD drove viewers to Disney.com/DoofSharkTank so see Doof’s entire pitch. The piece was filmed with the voice/creator of Dr. Doofenshmirtz (Dan Povenmire) actually pitching the Sharks in character. A clean backplate was filmed and Mr. Povenmire was replaced with animated Dr. Doofenshmirtz.
Outcome
:90 and :60 promos on Disney Channel and Disney XD drove viewers online to Disney.com/DoofSharkTank to view the 3-minute online video. The promos aired more than 200 times on the Disney channels. As a result, this online enhancement to the Phineas and Ferb series:
- Was the #1 video of the week at launch on Disney.com
- Represented one of Disney Channel’s first and most successful examples of multiplatform storytelling
- Engaged fans beyond the series with fresh content at Disney.com
