Background

The United States has the most expensive healthcare system in the world. In 2017, health spending per person in the U.S. was $10,224. Next door in Canada, it was just $4,826. Johnson & Johnson believes that one way to reduce U.S. health costs is to empower nurses. If the public is made aware of nurses’ remarkable achievements, they’ll surely view them with the same level of respect that they do doctors.

Execution

The Nurses project would only be successful if the full breadth of incredible nursing achievements through history were portrayed convincingly and hence emotionally understood. The nurses breakthroughs portrayed ranged from the Crimean War in the 1800's to the dawn of the AIDS epidemic in 1980's San Francisco to Liberia in 2014 and yet, the production budget would only allow for the unit to shoot in one country as affordably as possible, so every location had to be cast for, dressed, propped and wardrobed in one place and that place was Romania. It was a feat the director took on with his crew deftly, as the message was an important one to convey and convey well.
