Background

Animal rights charity PETA is using parody and dark humour to urge people to stop eating octopus and alert them to the serious issue of octopus farming.

Octopuses, largely considered to be the most intelligent of molluscs, and dubbed ‘Einsteins of the Sea’, are under threat from octopus farms. These cruel farms will cram the cephalopods into tiny tanks before they are killed in inhumane ways.

Execution

The budget was 73,000UK. Despite the budgetary challenges, we prioritized everyone receiving their usual workrates. We had 12 days to prep & build 20 shots, so the project was very hands on with producers pitching with painting/lighting.

Creatives and the director re-wrote scenes at last minute to accommodate the locations and props we were able to secure. Prosthetics made in 10 days. Eg. alien head was made w/o casting, so it was molded to the actor’s head on set.
