One of the summer's surprise hits, the website for 'The Italian Job' is as stylish, slick, dynamic and fun as the film. The centrepiece of an exhaustive online marketing campaign, the focus of the site was to introduce the visitor to the engaging ensemble cast and their roles in the story. In addition to a plethora of content, 25 'factoids' are spread throughout each section relating to safe cracking, explosives, computer hacking, the Mini, Los Angeles, Venice and Italy, and historic car chases as well as plot teases. 'The Italian Job' opened to US$20 million and grossed over US$105 million at the box office. Over 15% of those who saw the film on the opening weekend said they had visited the site making italianjobmovie.com a valuable member of a very successful marketing campaign.
