Description
"Iei" are photographs displayed at funerals to honor the memory of the deceased.
It is rare in Japan for people to have their "iei" taken beforehand, and the topic is often seen as taboo even among family.
The project is to take a picture that tells the story of an entire lifetime, and to take it with family.
Taking the somewhat morbid-sounding Japanese word "iei" and transforming it into the English cry of joy “Yeah”.
These clips from the documentary were taken at the homes of the people promoting the project.
