The film opens in a fictional urban setting, with a series of situations where frustrated people are just shouting at each other instead of listening - reflecting the typically confrontational nature of modern discourse and online interactions. The difference here is that the arguments somehow result in physical damage to the neighbourhood - though every person is seemingly too caught up in themselves to notice. Minor, everyday squabbles, escalate into increasingly surreal situations. Even a couple of superheroes are too busy arguing to save the rest of us from ourselves. Finally, a voice of reason cuts through the mayhem and suggests that we try questioning ourselves before passing judgement on others. A single, simple act of empathy diffuses the chaos and implies that if we listen more and try a little harder to understand each other, then perhaps we can hope to fix a broken world.
