Description
We treated Venmo’s new feature like a cool premium sneaker release. We partnered with unboxing savant, Brad Hall, who took a very serious approach to announcing this innovative technology. One that makes buying cool shoes as fun as having cool shoes.
Execution
To reach our target audience and bring humor to the instructional video, we enlisted Brad Hall – known for his deadpan, tongue-in-cheek unboxing videos of premium sneakers. In collaboration, we developed a script that incorporated the critical features of the app, while still playing off his unique sense of humor. To heighten the quirkiness and call attention to the branded component of the content, we evolved his wardrobe and surroundings throughout the video to gradually become more and more Venmo influenced.
Outcome
The video received tens of thousands of impressions and made its way to top cultural sites, including Brad’s Instagram account. Not to mention, Brad was able to buy some really cool shoes using Venmo.
