Description
Volkswagen has a commitment to become a greener company, which is reflected in many of their recent innovations. In line with that eco-conscious philosophy, they wanted to encourage their staff to recycle more paper. They briefed us to design a simple, branded recycle bin, to be placed in their head office and in Volkswagen dealerships nationwide.
Execution
Our idea came from the realisation that even recycling bins are made of paper and hence can be recycled. Our design looks like one recycling bin recycling another, yet is constructed from just a single sheet of cardboard, using no adhesive and less paper by volume than a standard-sized bin. Like a usable poster, it serves as a constant reminder to VW employees to look out for items that can be recycled, because they might be right in front of your eyes.
Outcome
n/a - the market here is an internal one, and hence matters like sales figures are not applicable. However, the unusual design has caught people's attention and more Volkswagen employees are recycling than ever before.
