Description
To showcase the brutal, cool efficiency of the Ghosts, we wanted to avoid action movie clichés. A dark humored cat video with a bloody result, “Red Dot” was written to give viewers the grim satisfaction of a Tarantino scene. We open on three tough cartel members, holed up in a safe house, playing cards. Nobody notices the pretty white cat and the laser red dot it starts playing with. Nobody, but the viewer.
The bad guys get it hard, the cat survives and the Ghosts are badass.
Gamers loved it.
Execution
To truly stand out from the other shooter game franchises, we brought back from retirement John McTiernan, the director known for creating some of the most iconic action movies such as Predator, Die Hard or The Hunt for The Red October.
“Red Dot” along with “Ruthless”, the launch film for the game were the first films he had directed in almost 14 years.
The results are 90 seconds of pure entertainment with only 3 bullets fired.
Outcome
The film has been wildly successful with over 17mil. views to date. Ultimately, over 6.8 million people played the Ghost Recon Open Beta, which was the most successful Beta in the history of Ubisoft.
