Idea

The Amazon rainforest - the largest and most important forest - faces an unprecedented threat. Still, the one who should defend her is, perhaps, who puts him at the most risk. That is why we developed an unprecedented action. We made the tree the first non-human refugee, not only by putting the Jatobá in the limelight, but it was a unique and innovative idea that brought international attention to a huge problem. Finally, it also forced the local authorities to confront this problem.

To denounce the devastation and uncontrolled exploitation of forests in Brazil, adding up to the intensifying deforestation and fires responsible for the destruction of entire biomes, the film narrates the journey of a refugee tree, the Jatobá, one of the many endangered species in the region, who decided to seek refuge in the embassies of foreign countries because of the danger in his own territory of origin.

Execution

The unusual request was presented during the event "24 Hours of Reality: Contagem Regressiva para o Futuro” (Countdown to the Future) organized by the Climate Reality Project, after sending the spot to more than 50 embassies in Brazil to expose that the trees of the Amazonia and also other Brazilian biomes are threatened.

The highlight of the film is the dramatic soundtrack that illustrates the urgency of the subject. The indigenous song that permeates the film is actually a marriage rite. We found an interesting counterpoint, something happy, sung with such sadness. Likewise, the melodic element that we chose merges with the string quartet is a saw, with a bow, not a violin. The semiotics of doing what deforestation symbolizes will help you in your fight.
