Description

The design concept creates an “urban terrace.” The docomo shop Marunouchi is locatedin an attractive area of tree-lined streets. The landscaping and atmosphere of the surroundingbuildings are reflected in the shop design.

In a world of mobile communications characterized by inorganic, futuristic terminology, we opted to create an urban terrace space with an organic feel. Emphasizing wood grain and greenery and blurring the border between the street and the shop, people feel a natural invitation to enter.

We aimed to create an experience in which the lifestyles of passersby could merge with the world of mobile communication.

Execution

We deasy to come in by applying floor finishes using wood deck and furnitures which make visitors esigned the area faced to the street under the theme of “urban terrace” for passerby to feel picture old wood and corten steel.

Such a casual and spacious shop interior encourages visitors to experience state-of-the-art IoT products and participate in related workshops.

Large and small digital signage throughout the shop effectively conveys information. Written exclusively for the store, ambient music supports the impression of an urban terrace.

Outcome

The customer responses to questionnaires from were mostly good reputations.

Most of the visitors indicated favorable impressions of the renovated docomo shop Marunouchi.

Offering even those who previously showed little interest in IoT products an opportunity to experience state-of-the-art technologies, waiting time has been reduced and comfort enhanced, making the renovated shop an attractive, welcoming space.

Visitors who experienced IoT products or participated in related workshops indicated favorable impressions.

The shop functions as a trial space to pursue new pleasure and potential, offering opportunities to become more engaged with mobile communication.
