More than 1000 refugees from the Middle East overwhelm the Balkans daily, on a desperate run to reach the EU. So, the Balkan region has once again reached a refugee crisis point, becoming a main route for people in a desperate run for their lives.

However, many people and governments across the world fail to understand the tragedy that forced these people to run. And the refugees are often faced with mistreatment and rejection.

That is why, we decided to unite the people of Balkans, and organize a symbolical action called RUN FOR PEACE.

For the first time ever, on February 28th, hundreds of runners from Belgrade and Zagreb – Nike Running Club, gathered to run the streets of Belgrade, led by a young man from Syria, who was representing all the people forced to run from war.

Tanks and military vehicles followed the runners, creating a powerful visual experience, raising awareness about the importance of global change of attitude towards refugees and inviting the world to SUPPORT THE ONES WHO RUN FOR LIFE.

With this symbolical action we gave running a new meaning, which caused the change in behavior among the runners of the turbulent Balkan region, and indirectly among the running community worldwide, spontaneously creating a sort of "challenge".
