Execution

Banorte launched “Safe-driving Miles”. A problem solving App specially created for its Insurance Unit. Directly created for consumers. And a completely new innovation.

An App that makes drivers aware of the use of cell phones while driving and which is also designed to retain current clients.

How does it work?

The driver gets in the car, and checks into the application on his cell phone.

By means of a GPS and an Accelerometer, this app will track every mile the client drives without using the phone—either getting a call or answering a text message.

The GPS will track down every mile and the Accelerometer will record whether the phone has been used through the motion sensor.

Each mile driven without using the phone will result in a discount point when buying or renewing a car insurance—similar to air-mileage programs.

Outcome

This might be further introduced to the whole country. Now the app is only available in Mexico City.

It's not clear how our technology might influence the App industry, but it's very clear it will affect and transform the Insurance Industry.

+10,300 downloads

+165% awareness increase of the responsible use of cell phones while driving

-36% distraction accidents in the first six months of use of the App

+48% car insurance renewal
