Description

A constant mission for Saks is to provide shoppers unique experiences and custom designer pieces that they cannot find anywhere else - the epitome of today's new luxury. This, combined with Disney’s strategy of leveraging high-end fashion collaborations to further connect with fans, created a natural opportunity for Disney’s oldest and most recognizable film. Pairing the iconic and deep-rooted cultural identities of both brands, Saks and Disney brought the film to life in a magical way through a multi-channel holiday partnership.

The Saks Fifth Avenue windows are emblematic of the holidays and provided the foundation on which the partnership was built. Knowing that shoppers anxiously await each year’s new theme and accompanying window unveiling ceremony, Saks Fifth Avenue and Disney would use that existing momentum to appeal to both new and loyal fans of the two brands.

Execution

Translating the iconic story into real-life delights, the Saks New York Flagship windows each depicted a different scene from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Vignettes included Snow White dancing among woodland creatures and the Wicked Queen's mischievous trickery. A 3D layering technique incorporated original artwork from the film into the displays.

Additional windows featured the work of four legendary fashion designers, commissioned to create one-of-a-kind fairytale gowns for the 21st century Snow White.

Sofia Carson, multi-talented actress and recording artist, performed live at the holiday window unveiling event, accompanied by a 40-person choir and Snow White, Snow Prince, and the Seven Dwarfs.

Saks offered a series of Disney-themed breakfasts in the Saks New York Flagship, complete with special guest appearances from Snow White and her friends.

Disney-inspired fashion, accessories and giftable items as well as a limited-edition, hand-crafted Snow White collectible doll were available at Saks and Saks.com.

Outcome

The Saks and Disney partnership drove results that far exceeded expectations, driving consumers to Saks stores and Saks.com to participate in the iconic annual holiday event, and generating 1.7 billion media impressions, an increase of nearly one billion more than the previous holiday.

Impressions were secured through window displays, the window unveiling event, event marketing, advertising, and social media with over 1.6 billion impressions from press coverage alone. Coverage included The New York Times, Vogue, The Daily, The Cut, Elle.com, WWD.com, Good Morning America and Access Hollywood, among others.

The Disney-themed holiday windows at Saks garnered 40+ million views, delighting Saks customers, Disney fans, and spectators.

A live stream of the unveiling event was featured on Saks.com as well as on New York Post, AOL and Daily Mail Online Facebook, and in Times Square on the digital billboard above the Disney store, generating 1.5 million impressions worldwide.
