Description
Our solution needed to get closer to the MasterCard, closer to the everyday purchase and closer to our customer.
And that’s what we did. Quite literally.
We found the solution in our customers pockets.
We found it on the receipt!
By enabling our customers to scan their MasterCard receipt, winning instant prizes, we changed their behavior, making MasterCard the preferred pay card for everyday purchases.
In other words, we turned the MasterCard receipt into a valuable Direct Media achieving great results.
Execution
Introducing MasterCard’s Scan, Spin & Win.
In order to make the experience as simple as the idea, we created an app, where you could:
SCAN your MasterCard receipt, SPIN the wheel and WIN one of our small, instant prizes.
This approach allowed us to be close to the transaction and thereby close to our customer. And we made a fairly useless analogue media (the receipt) into something valuable.
We went from travel based transactions to everyday purchases.
From distant to instant.
Outcome
In less than 4 weeks we created more than 150.000 unique interactions (scans) and more importantly, the MasterCard transactions increased by an impressive 23%.
At this point in time, the cardholders are still using the App, each of them scanning an average of ten receipts.
