Idea
“Search On” is an episodic storytelling series that celebrates the amazing ways people are solving problems with the help of Google technology. These stories are told as short documentaries paired with interactive online articles.
Our participants are ordinary people with extraordinary vision. They each had an idea, saw an opportunity, or weren’t satisfied with the way things were, so they set out on a quest in search of better answers. Each episode shines a light on people from all walks of life having unique and personal interactions with technology.
Execution
Our internal team serves as the showrunners -- defining the creative vision, the story beats, and the methods — but we collaborate with world-class directors to bring it all to life. Post-production takes place both in-house with our internal editor, and with top-tier documentary editors around the world, along with agency support for color grading and sound mixing. We launch the film on YouTube, alongside an interactive editorial piece published on about.google/stories, and run an integrated campaign across social and YouTube.
Our base level of story amplification happens through the official Google social media channels, including Instagram, Instagram Stories, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. We also run paid social posts on Instagram and Facebook. Each video is hosted on the Google YouTube channel. We also look at the theme of each video and find unique ways to amplify the launch IRL events, influencer support, AMAs and podcasts and branded content opportunities with publishers like Vox Media or New York Times.
