The arrival of Australia’s biggest frozen drink would be commemorated with a national monument – The Big Slurpee. The grand plans were announced through the media. We then designed, built, transported and erected an 11-metre replica (complete with straw) as the nation watched on. The Big Slurpee’s unveiling was promoted with mainstream advertising, tourist posters, travel maps, a tourist website and Big Slurpee souvenirs.
Outcome
Sales were also big with figures more than doubling the previous year. They were also the largest sales generated in Slurpee history. Over 10,000 tourists made the road trip to The Big Slurpee in the first 2 months and over 3000 a day made their way to the website.
