Description
When it comes to progress, Samsung is fascinated with chasing something bigger. And they know that every innovative step they take will only inspire others to progress even further. As sponsors of the ASP World Championship Tour, they’ve watched this theory play out in dramatic first hand, as today’s best surfers have spread the love of the sport to new and unexpected parts of the world. In the film ‘The Snail’ Samsung takes the stance that the spread of surf culture all comes down to this – that every living being on this planet has a need to connect with something greater than itself. From the tiniest snail attempting to cross a vast and unpredictable sidewalk, to the world’s greatest surfers ignoring their own fragile shells every time they paddle out into the awesome power of the ocean.
Execution
Launched simultaneously on Samsung’s YouTube channel, and WSL’s website, the film was promoted across the globe targeting surfing fans, sports enthusiasts as well as more general millennial audiences.
It was great timing for the launch, as it preceded Samsungs Olympic sponsorship, thereby giving sports enthusiasts a glimpse into Samsungs new brand belief - #DoWhatYouCant, a few weeks before it was amplified through the games.
The video spread through the surfing communities with influential surfing blog; the inertia even quoted as saying “Did Samsung just one-up itself with the next great surfing commercial: “The Snail”?”
Outcome
Over 4,000,000 views on YouTube.
