Our goal was to not only have great animation, but also to affect the audience emotionally, with no words spoken. We designed our characters to be instantly charming and likable, while also being able to convey a huge range of emotions and clear personalities and backstories. Our environments needed to convey both the visceral cold of winter, and the visceral warmth and relief of a nice warm bowl of soup. And our chicken noodle soup needed to fit within this slightly more stylized world, while still looking hyper real and delicious. Everything, from lighting, to wardrobe, to color palette, to score was specifically designed to tell this heartfelt story and leave the audience with a feeling of warmth.
