Description

Donating blood can give someone an entire lifetime in which to live out their hopes and dreams.

Blood does not only represent the gift of life. It also connects donors to recipients and recipients to their future life stories. Drawing inspiration from the translucent tubes of blood used during transfusions, we used the visual device of a simple red line to represent the lifeline of blood. It is this powerful graphic device that became the central theme for our campaign.

Execution

ILLUSTRATION STYLE

We developed a graphic illustration style using a single continuous red ‘lifeline’. This was applied across various elements.

• FONT

We created a one-of-a-kind font from actual blood transfusion tubes.

• ICONS

We created brand icons using a single, continuous red ‘lifeline’.

• COLLATERAL

We applied our illustration style, font and iconography to:

o Business Cards

o Blood Vial Flash Drives / Business Cards

o SANBS Notebooks & Folders

o Wallpaper (internal use)

o Shoelaces

o T-Shirts

TACTICAL POSTERS

For blood donor month we used our illustration style to create graphic posters inspiring blood donations.

STORY POSTERS

We created brand posters telling the stories of blood transfusion recipients to drive further blood donations.

3D AMBIENT / POSTERS

To attract attention in busy blood donation centres, we created giant blood transfusion bags filled with unusual ‘blood’ like red wool. Printed on each bag was a heart-warming story explaining why.
