Overview

Background

This film highlights Toyota’s dedication to helping to bring positive change to communities in Asia. As we know, many countries in Asia suffer from large numbers of infrastructure problems, as well as having many disadvantaged people and communities. The “Dual Athletes” in the film are helping to achieve not just national glory in stadiums, but using their success to drive change in society. From winning a bout, to advocating the voices of the unheard. From inspiring others to find hope through sport, to bringing real change to the lives of future generations out on the streets. It’s these fights to empower the un-empowered that are making a real difference to the lives of people in Asia.

Idea

Many countries in Asia suffer from large numbers of infrastructure problems, as well as having many disadvantaged people and communities.

Execution

We set about creating an 'original' music score that would “live and breathe”, setting the pace and energy of the interwoven stories within the film. The music had to transcend the many different cultures, sports and stories featured in the film, while reinforcing the film’s “overcoming the impossible” message. We composed a single two minute track, that had to be able to be broken into shorter films that showcased each 'Dual Hero' separately. Taking the necessary scored sections from our original master two minute track (used for our long-form regional film), we developed a unique version for each athletes own one minute film. Using specific instrumental, vocal and percussion elements, we are able to create an individual Athlete music track, whilst keeping the overall feel under the master family composition.

The films had to work across different touch-points with varying levels of 'quality' sound output (events, online, mobile etc). The challenge was to capture all the essential elements and make them work together at the right output levels.
