Description

THE VOID is a destination that inspires the exploration of fully immersive virtual worlds and dimensions, where friends and family create memorable experiences together. Founded by visionaries and entrepreneurs Curtis Hickman, James Jensen and Ken Bretschneider in 2015, THE VOID is pioneering the creation of virtual worlds that engage the senses and connect people. THE VOID experiences inspire exploration of new worlds and dimensions, allowing you to engage with them. In July 2016, THE VOID teamed up with Sony Pictures and Ivan Reitman to develop its first public installation based on the studio’s Ghostbuster Franchise. THE VOID’s first experience, Ghostbusters: Dimension is available at three locations: Madame Tussauds New York, The Beach in Dubai, UAE, and at the company headquarters in SLC, Utah. Over 75,000 visitors have experienced Ghostbusters: Dimension to date, and it has consistently received rave reviews – over 98% positive.

Execution

As noted in our creative idea, in July 2016, THE VOID teamed up with Sony Pictures and Ivan Reitman to develop its first public installation based on the studio’s Ghostbuster Franchise which has drawn over 75,000 visitors. THE VOID Ghostbusters: Dimension is for everyone: all ages, genders and backgrounds eager to journey to new worlds and create new memories together. The experience was implemented with the social experience in mind, specifically as a shared experience that allows you to create tangible bonds as you work together with friends, family and groups in social exploration. Each location of Ghostbusters: Dimension is constructed on a custom physical stage and uses proprietary software to layer virtual worlds over the physical, placing participants into experiences that are truly immersive, allowing them to step beyond reality. Participants wear THE VOID’s proprietary and custom RAPTURE™ gear, including head mounted displays (HMDs), backtop™ computers, and haptic vests to engage the senses and transport them to new virtual worlds - completing the experience. THE VOID goes beyond virtual reality as is currently conceptualized, transporting you and your friends to virtual dimensions that inspire exploration and fully engage the senses. THE VOID’s first experience, Ghostbusters: Dimension opened at Madame Tussauds New York in July 2016, THE VOID Dubai opened at The Beach in Dubai in the UAE in March 2017 in partnership with Meraas, and THE VOID Lindon opened at the company headquarters in Lindon, Utah in April 2017. THE VOID Ghostbusters: Dimension has garnered top press coverage in business outlets (The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, MIT Technology Review, Forbes, Huffington Post, International Business Times), consumer technology publications (Fast Company, TechCrunch, WIRED, The Verge Variety, Popsugar), and virtual reality trades (Upload VR, Warable, RoadToVR, BlooLoop, VR Scout) and local press (Utah Business, Time Out Dubai, Good4Utah).
