Execution

We had a simple and powerful execution. On the anniversary of the military coup, we covered those street signs with replicas honoring worldwide famous dictators. On the bottom of the sign we placed a call to action: "Whoever killed or tortured cannot become street name, help us to change this sign and the one underneath it" access the website: ruas da vergonha.org.br. On the website we described with detail the story of each military involved in death and torture, and in the end of that website we invited the user to sign a petition to change those street names. That Petition was delivered to the municipality.

Outcome

There were 22 streets in Sao Paulo honoring those military.

Thousands of people signed our petition to change those street names.

2 streets have already got their names changed and 5 streets are in process to have their name changed as well.

The project opened a precedent for similar stunts around the country.
