Background
BMW was returning to the Super Bowl this year with a spot for the all new generation of the iconic BMW 5 series. Christopher Walken is iconic, as is the first-ever 100% electric BMW i5. The brief was to create a memorable and humorous film where one icon works with another, creating a synergy of two legends.
Execution
The casting process involved selecting celebrities and comedic performers who could interact believably with Christopher Walken while adding humour to the narrative. The cameos from Ashley Graham and Usher were chosen to complement Walken’s presence, and Usher’s cameo was particularly fitting, given his halftime show performance at the Super Bowl, adding an extra layer of relevance and anticipation. Additionally, a strong comedic ensemble was cast to portray the everyday people who do impressions of Walken, reflecting the humorous situations he encounters in real life.
