We launched KittyCat Hijack straight from Facebook. Using bookmarklet technology, cat lovers could Shake, Shake, Shake a virtual bag of treats on any website to attract cats to the treats from all corners of the web.
Anyone could drag a bag of treats to their bookmarks bar, visit the website of their choice, and unleash a feline frenzy.
Facebook ads, an email blast and an influencer strategy drove initial interest. Then share buttons built into the app helped KittyCat Hijack take on a viral life of its own.
Outcome
Cat lovers couldn’t wait to get their paws on KittyCat Hijack. Within a week, tens of thousands of sites were hijacked worldwide. International media pounced on the story, quickly earning over 1 million unique impressions. And we proved that Temptations truly are irresistible to cats – even online.
