Background
Situation: Terminal List is a new action-thriller TV series produced by Amazon Prime Video and starring Chris Pratt. Its plot revolves around missions, investigations and false memory, inside an atmosphere that pretty much recalls those of many action video games.
Brief. Launch this brand new series targeting action-thriller fans, particularly those coming from the gaming world.
Objectives: Raise awareness of the title and drive intent to watch.
Idea
Terminal List Experience is the first playable trailer ever. It has been made available online before the release of the show to target the ever-growing community of gamers and introduce them to the investigation behind the main plot of the original series.
Strategy
Gaming is disrupting the way people consume entertainment, mostly for one reason: video games create immersive and interactive experiences, where the user can act in first person. That’s why, to address gamers, we needed to rethink the way trailers are made, make one putting the viewer at the very center, make it social and make it live.
Execution
Two weeks before the release of the main show we created a dedicated landing page to host our teaser, announced by the main protagonist of the show Chris Pratt. The game itself combines visuals inspired by the most hyped video game genre, first person shooter, with a user experience coming from nostalgic point-and-click adventures. To bridge the divide between gaming and cinema the trailer has been created with the Full-Motion-Video technique, which implements footage instead of CGI, and has been edited as one single sequence shot.
Outcome
The online game was a success, attracting 8,800 unique visitors who initiated 11,000 game sessions on the dedicated website.
Furthermore, the amplification activity on PV Twitch channel grabbed the attention of 40,000 gamers, generating more than 52,000 live views.
Finally, the initiative was told off-handle by some of the biggest gaming streamers on Twitch generating over 35,000 play time hours.
Terminal List Experience generated more views and interaction then the international trailer, proving our approach successful and igniting the curiosity of the main protagonist of the show which decided to be part of its launch.
