Description

Colombia is the country with the highest number of acid attacks towards women per capita in the world.the reality is that most women were afraid to go to the police and when they did lots of the time the police did nothing because they didn´t consider it a major crime and if they did cash the attacker in the best of cases they would receive light sentences, to give you an example a person that steals a chicken will probably get more time in prison than one who attacks a woman with acid. This reality was invisible to most of Colombia until March 27th, 2014 When a video of Natalia ponce been attacked was shown in all news channelsBut she didn´t become a victim, she became a fighter for victim’s rights, recognize by all for the mask she wears, Convincing congress to pass a law that gives 50 year sentence against aggressors. But, the attacks continued and the aggressors weren’t being pursued by the authorities. Now she had to rally a country to make her fight theirs, pressuring the government to commit to this law and health institutions to provide the right care.
