OVERVIEW

Background

Roger Federer is not just one of the most successful tennis champions in history but also an adored and sociable global personality. Mikaela Shiffrin is an Olympic gold medalist alpine skier. Together they partnered with Barilla for this global campaign as they are the embodiment of mastery and healthy living, both glamorous and charming personalities who know the power of a simple dish of pasta. Davide Oldani is a Michelin-starred Italian chef who’s partnered with Barilla and Roger Federer since last year’s Masters of Pasta campaign. This year he created a special pasta recipe to give the party a real Italian twist. “Buon appetito!” is a typical Italian expression which means, “enjoy the meal!”

Execution

In this film Roger Federer attends a spectacular, couture-style party full of royalty, dignitaries and celebrities - Roger fits right in. The party, however, is a bust. It’s dull and boring. So Roger brings the party where all great nights end up: the kitchen. Inside the kitchen Roger finds his old friend, Davide Oldani. Suddenly Roger has a plan. With help from Barilla, Roger and Oldani cook up something special. The energy, smell and excitement of what they’re making is contagious, capturing everyone’s attention. Guests enter and start enjoying themselves. Waiters take over for the stuffy band, lifting the mood even more. The party has shifted to the kitchen. But the night is still missing an important ingredient: food. After Oldani applies final touches to the dish, a guest then tastes and gives approval. Roger shouts, “Buon appetito!”, serves dinner to Mikaela Shiffrin and guests. Now, that’s a party.
