Description
In bedrooms and playrooms around the world, Barbie helps girls imagine what is possible, but while she is one of their first role models, she isn’t the only role model girls need. In this idea, Barbie changed the iconic doll around the world to give girls the chance to interact with real, inspirational figures working in industries where women are most underrepresented. So ensuring every girl has the role model she needs to achieve all the limitless possibilities her life holds.
Execution
Barbie created the Global Role Models Collection – championing women working in the industries where women are most heavily underrepresented: STEM, CEOs, Sports, Catering and more. We worked with incredible influencers working in these industries to provide girls with the role models they so badly need.
We launched the collection on International Women’s Day with 17 dolls of celebrated influencers and a film highlighting the under-representation alongside an international mentorship program.
Outcome
Globally social networks buzzed with news of the collection. It generated 3.9B global impressions and 3300 news stories. Most importantly the dolls sold out, meaning a whole new generation of girls were given the inspiration they need to believe they can be anything.
