Execution

The technology was designed to provide a user experience that reinvents the art of vinyl record scratching in a new medium and provide fun. The technology was developed specifically as part of a launch campaign for the Urbanears mobile mixing system launch in Denmark.

The product is comprised of a doublestick jack and mixing app downloadable from the app store. The technology was transformed into an analogue interactive illustration. Using ridges to generate sound has been done before however the application of sound ridges in the printed media hasn't and not with the integration of DJ techniques as described above. The budget was limited at GBP 6000. and resulted in 50 laser engraved posters.

Outcome

The campaign rolls out as instore material, posters and installations at point of writing. Collaborations with profesional DJ's incorporating the technology into their acts is in the pipeline and will roll out progressively during the next months, with a social media amplification plan that incorporates famous and not famous people using the poster as an instrument and experimenting with it's possibilities. As the technology develops we hope to incorporate more distinct musical variations and vocal soundtracks.
