Time Warner Cable Anthem TV“Grenade”British comedian Ricky Gervais is famous for his sarcastic, mean-spirited sense of humor.So in this commercial, when Ricky denies someone’s friend request on Facebook—his friend strikes back. Literally. There’s an attack by the military, a motorcycle chase, and an onslaught of zombies. It’s a full-on assault brought to you by a full-on entertainment company, Time Warner Cable.
Execution
The subway installation was placed in a busy courtyard in downtown Charlotte, NC. People passing by were surprised to find the entrance to a New York City subway suddenly appear in the middle of their city and walked over to checkout the installation and read information on the offer.
Outcome
The promotion generated an overwhelming amount of buzz that extended far beyond Charlotte. Articles on the structure appeared in Adweek and Adfreak. As a result of the promotion, millions of people tuned in to view the Tribeca Film Festival On Demand throughout the country.
