Description

This commercial introduces some the many melodic birdcalls used as audible pedestrian signals at train stations throughout Japan to communicate the importance of Suntory’s Save the Birds! Campaign. Started by Suntory in 1975, it is based on the notion that protecting birds is the same as protecting the environment where people live.

In Japan, audible pedestrian signals are used to guide visually impaired persons not only at traffic intersections, but also in buildings and other locations. Using the songs of wild birds in this way instead of cold electronic sounds is a warm, friendly alternative that also enhances people's consciousness of nature.
