Execution

When commuters tried to surf, they got this message: “During this short journey you can not express your opinion on the Internet. For millions of people who are censored, this is a daily experience.” The trams were the perfect media to

a small inconvenience that many found disruptive, but that succeed to get passengers thinking about an issue they had not even considered.

Outcome

During the 2 months, nearly 1,000,000 commuters were cut off from the Internet on their trams in Ghent and Brussels ! Even high-profile politicians took the tram triggering national media coverage (TV, daily press) about our action. We also received attention from news websites and bloggers, from Brazil over Poland to Russia.
