Background

Transfermarkt is the most important football statistics plataform in the world, it has more than 20 million monthly visits, it is translated in more than 10 languages; It has the data of more than a million soccer players, the information of more than two million games played and almost 100,000 clubs statistics.​​ That’s why it is the main source of information on football data for managers, recruiters, coaches, football players and anyone related to this sport. But when looking for a female football player, no information came back. For this reason, Cerveza Aguila, as the main sponsor of Colombian footaball, decided to find a solution to one of the biggest problems in women's football, the visibility of their statistics.

The objective was to find a way to creatively intervene the Transfermarkt plataform so that the people who entered would have access to the most important data on women football players.

Idea

In Cerveza Aguila we believe that the data of female football players are just as important as male’s statistics. That’s why we hacked Transfermarkt, the most important football statistics plataform in the world, using banners that looked the same as their interface, with all the female statistics information on them.

But when these banners were clicked on, they hid something else: Hermarket.co, a platform created by us, which gathered the real-time statistics of the female players for everyone to see.

Strategy

We had a company specialized in the recollection of men's football data to also recollect the historical statistics of Female football players in real time after each match.

Our target is all the people who constantly enter Transfermarkt. Managers, scouts, players, coaches and all football fans.

The data displayed is the same that appears in transfermarkt, goals, assists, games played and transfers.

Execution

transfermarkt, the most important football statistics platform in the world, where the biggest stars of this sport can be found, has no information on female players. This makes their talent invisible to fans, managers and club owners, who look in this platform for their next signings.

Cerveza Aguila, as the main brand sponsor of football in Colombia, needed to do something to give Female football the recognition it deserves. That's why we found a way to include the female players' data in transfermarket.

First, with the help of a male football data firm, we collected the historical data of the Colombian professional female football players.

Second, we created a platform, HERMARKET, where we put all the data collected from the Colombian professional female football players.

Third, we identified each of the design characteristics in which the transfermarket platform visualizes the data, with this we created banners with the same color, typography and design. Making it exactly the same as transfermarket but with the female players' data.

Fourth, we used these banners with all this information and posted them on trasnfermarket, making the female players' data available for the first time on the platform and visible for all the 16 million monthly visitors of the site.

Finally, we promoted HERMARKET on our social media to amplify the message and get more people to finally see the data of the Colombian female football players.

Outcome

95% of users who logged into Transfermark improved their experience within the platform, thanks to the fact that they now had visible information on female soccer players.

90% more mentions of women's soccer and 5% more interest in women's soccer, which represents a change in behavior as people increase their interest in the upcoming Women's World Cup.
