Description

Why do people go for popular tourist destinations? Because the current interface for travel bookings encourages this behaviour by offering flight searches to destinations that you’ve already thought of. And by changing the interface, we could change this behaviour. So we built Tripstr – an extension for Google Chrome that lets people search flights to any picture, and turns every image into a potential flight search. When they come across a great picture on Flickr or Instagram, they just have to click on our extension. It’ll tell them where the picture was shot, scan for the nearest airports to that location and then search several travel websites to give them the cheapest fares to that picture. They could then book the tickets or add the location to their watchlist. And of course, they could request us for a customised travel plan to these places through the extension itself.

Execution

The extension was launched in April 2016 on the Google Chrome Store. It will initially be promoted through Broken Compass’ social media pages and their existing database of clients.

Outcome

The extension has been released in April 2016. We expect it to be a while before we get a fair indicator of the success of the extension, and its impact on sales.
