Description

BT Sport was launching in Ultra HD.

The extra detail meant every grey hair, every spot and wrinkle would easily be seen on screen.

So that sports stars did not get caught out BT Sport turned their TV box into a Vanity Kit, specially made to help stars hide those tiny imperfections.

Accompanied by a cheeky message The Vanity Kits were sent to sports stars everywhere to #GetUltraHDReady

Execution

BT Sport now showcases sport in Ultra HD. We wanted to let our current subscribers and new customers know that their favourite teams and sports stars will be available in crystal clear quality and nothing will go unnoticed.

We worked with model maker Andy Knight to create the BT UHD Vanity Kit. We took the existing BT TV 4K Ultra High-Definition boxes, removing all wiring and tech, replacing these with bespoke vanity items.

To the untrained eye, it’s a box which plugs into your TV. Once opened, it reads the message “Get Ready for Ultra HD” with items including, tweezers, fake tan and nail file.

We posted these to BT Sport pundits, footballers, boxers and rugby players to give them a nudge in the right direction, inviting them to #GetUltraHDReady. In Ultra HD nothing will be missed, that includes those stray nose hairs or unruly monobrows.

Outcome

The campaign reached 20 million followers on social media which was measured using the hashtag #GetUltraHDReady. This was 100% organic and included no paid media support. The UHD Vanity Kit generated conversation and positive sentiment on Twitter and Instagram from: BT Sport pundits, Premier League footballers and boxers, including WBO lightweight champion Terry Flanagan.
