OVERVIEW

Description

As per WHO statistics, nearly 53% of children in India are victims of sexual abuse.

In 94.8% of rape cases the perpetrators were someone they were close to or knew well. These acquaintances ranged from neighbours to uncles to maids, and were usually the last people the parents would suspect. Unfortunately, societal norms make these issues taboo and closed for discussion, which ensures that such traumatising events become a part of the children’s existence and scar them for life.

Aarti for Girls, an organisation which stands up against the issue of child abuse, wanted to communicate this issue to the parents, to ensure that they understand the grave nature of the issue as well as take preventive measures to make sure that their children remained protected by ensuring constant supervision on the child’s interaction with their acquaintances.
