Description

Burger King created a special valentine’s day “Adults meal”

for consumers aged 18+,

available only after 6 p.m.

The meal included:

2 Whoppers,

2 packs of French fries,

2 beers,

and a romantic “adult toy” inside.

Execution

We created an Occasion Based Marketing campaign for Valentines Day: The ‘Adults Meal’.

We took the well-known ‘Kids Meal’ box and redesigned it to look adult-like, complete with neon lights and all.

Next we packaged the perfect meal for two:

2 Whoppers, 2 packs of French fries, 2 beers and an adult toy like a feather duster, head massager or a blindfold.

The ‘Adults Meal’ was made available at the brand’s flagship restaurant in the center of town, only to people aged 18 and above, only from 6 PM and only on Valentine’s Day.

Two days before Valentine’s Day, we released a short video on social networks to announce the launch of our special ‘Adult Meal’ as well as a short press release we sent out to the press…from there things just….well, took off and got completely out of control (in a good way)

Outcome

* Headlines in over 50 countries

* No 1 topic on “google trends” in the US on Valentine’s Day

* 608.000.000 media impressions (no there is no typo in the number, it is 608Million impressions!)

* 6.000.000$ earned media

* +60% sales (compared to average daily sales during the same hours)

* All 'Adult Meals' sold out within 4 hours

* For the first time ever Burger King restaurants were packed on Valentines
