BRANDBASE, Amsterdam / SHELL / 2014
A 10mx8m replica of a self-portrait by Van Gogh made entirely out of sunflowers (another Van Gogh masterpiece). This artful eye-catcher was placed at the busy Museum Square in Amsterdam. It attracted attention from national and international museum visitors, passersby and the media for Shell’s innovative and dedicated way of contributing to the research whilst also sharing enthusiasm for the work of van Gogh. From afar, shades of yellow sunflowers show the famous self-portrait, up close a fragrant collection of beautiful flowers. We handed out sunflowers and flyers with which visitors of the exhibition could win free tickets.
The beautiful replica attracted much attention from national and international museum visitors, passersby and the media. This attention set the stage to tell the story about Shell's involvement with the Van Gogh Museum. It was shown in national newspapers, news sites and television: A beautiful way to show the involvement of a sponsor like Shell.
