Background
Even though Virtual Reality hasn’t yet reached its full potential, the number of marketing experiences is already quite saturated. Most of them are targeted towards consumers who already own VR goggles. The group we wanted to reach does not yet own any sort of VR goggles, so we wanted to use VR to see if it could make an emotional impact on someone else, in a way that made the consumers realize the potential of owning Samsung Gear VR.
Description
New Mills AFC is written about in various publications as England’s worst football team. To give them a boost in confidence for the last game of the season, we supplied them with Samsung Gear VR goggles and a custom speech from legendary British football coach Harry Redknapp, delivered in 360 from a major British football stadium.
Execution
Both Harry’s VR experience and New Mills’ event were documented and launched online in both own and bought media with the objective to spread to earned media.
