In her poem, A Home Of His Own, Heather Wastie explains how she and her husband are making sure they don't miss their son too much now he's moved out of their home.

We wrote our brief with the aim of attracting the most interesting performers and original voices. We sent it to a number of spoken word artists asking them to compose, perform and record a poem about what family life meant to them. All the poems had to be a specific time-length and submitted to the agency where we chose the best entries.

We also spent many hours trawling the Internet; looking for people we believed would represent the powerful voices of ordinary people speaking up for what’s important in today’s society.

Hollie McNish was chosen because of her mesmerising quality as a performer and because she was unafraid to speak candidly about her experiences as a mum, something rarely so openly addressed, least of all in adverts. The truth behind what she says made her the perfect choice to be one of our ‘Voices Nationwide’.
