Background

In 2017 Volkswagen released a new member of the Tiguan series: The Tiguan Allspace.

A larger and longer Tiguan model that makes it possible to create a third seating row, which can carry two extra passengers.

Volkswagen asked us to introduce the Tiguan Allspace with a smart idea that had the potential to spread.

The key objectives were to create rumour around the release of the new Tiguan Allspace and to get people to book a test drive.

Description

In the film we see a Volkswagen Tiguan with two magically floating passengers hanging on its rear end driving through various towns.

People in the streets look amazed or astonished as they see the Tiguan with floating passengers drive by.

We see the Tiguan stopping at a gas station and a non-suspecting passer-by can’t believe his eyes. The Tiguan even takes over another car on a country road.

Claim: There’s a new and bigger Tiguan coming – The Tiguan Allspace – with 2 extra seats.

Execution

We drove around with the special prepped Tiguan for 1 long day, capturing people’s reactions to it and handing out brochures at designated promotional places during the day.

With long lenses we captured the specially prepped Tiguan in traffic and reactions from other road users to the stunt.

From this material we made online films (the stunt film and a making of) that were pushed out in social.

These films were placed on Facebook and YouTube, reaching 1,5 million views to date.
