Background
This Disney release is called 'A Haunting in Venice,' and the idea was to use Venice, California—originally modeled after Venice, Italy—to reach local audiences. To create this immersive environment, we combined multiple buildings under the famed Venice sign and transformed them into stunning murals using hyper-real painted art.
What's more, we worked with the city to modify the famed Venice sign to read 'A Haunting in Venice.' Anyone who has attempted to get city cooperation for something like this knows how near-impossible that is to accomplish.
Execution
"The two buildings in Venice, 70 Winward and 66 Winward were combined and prepped for weeks before the artist arrived. Once onsite, the famed artist @Jeksone employed his hyper-real skills to recreate epic art from the film. In addition, the creative designed and fabricated a custom sign to be connected to the original Venice sign hanging over the combined mural of the two buildings."
Outcome
"This installation created incredible buzz in Venice and was photographed and shared countless times on social media. The Venice sign itself is one of the most photographed locations in Los Angeles.
This installation was yet another example of how Disney continues to create fun and memorable experiences that delight its audience!"
