Queer Lisboa was created in 1997 and it is Lisbon’s (Portugal) oldest film festival. Through the years the festival consolidated its reputation internationally and is one of the most recognized festivals of its genre in the world.

Every year we try something different –movie references like “Mister Pink” and “Pride Heart”, emotional driven concepts like “Obscene” and “Coming out” or plain and simple nonsense like “Death of the Gay cliché” and “Closets”. And so we finally learn this - “Queer Lisboa” could be a niche brand but its communication should not. Therefore we decided to take the brand’s values –culture, joy, tolerance and freedom – to everybody and what better way to promote tolerance than show a “gay” festival inviting all the straight guys to attend?
