The goal was to create a film inspired by Cinéma Vérité, where our world feels real and familiar, showing people in everyday situations with authentic dialogue and natural action, but in a dynamically rich stylized world that toes the line of “magical realism” – imagining a space where all of these larger than life stars live together as one. The director executed this by pulling performances from the range of cast — non-actor players and legends of the NBA, children, and professional actors — helping to blend their performances seamlessly together. Vignettes, ideas, and the overall flow of the film were created in real time to adjust and allow for performances to feel intimate. The result is a film that feels as legendary as its stars.
