People prefer hyped games like poker. They love the risk and the action, the thrill and the overall attitude of the game. Not only because providers of online poker act legally in a grey area. The 6 from 49 Lottery does not expose itself glamorously and as part of the national lottery it is not allowed to at all. So the main challenge was to keep the subtle, understated attitude but demonstrate in a playful way that 6 from 49 is anything but boring.

Everything is built on a simple truth: Most people relate to numbers on a very metaphoric, lively or playful level. The design meets this insight. Inspired by “connect the dots”, a game we all know pretty well from our childhood, 49 numbers give the image of an average positive situation in life. But the right 6 reveal a dream and turn good into great. Just find them, line them up and with a bit of luck they can line your pockets.

Outcome

Meanwhile sales growth in the first quarter of 2015 is showing a slight uptrend compared to last year’s results (concrete numbers have not been shared with the agency yet).

Overall people enjoy the way WestLotto added playfulness to the game and see the classic 6 from 49 Lottery in a whole new light.
