Execution

We created a multi-layered cinematic experience that can be enjoyed on a number of levels simultaneously – as a short film, an interactive game and a fully immersive transmedia mystery.

The narrative of the film and its characters appear to be caught in an infinite loop. Various game moments are seamlessly integrated into the film, providing clues as to how the user can break this cycle and move forward in the narrative. Ultimately the audience must complete these puzzles and use their cell phone as a live control device to unlock and receive a surprise phone call from the film, triggering its true ending.

We launched the project with a guerrilla marketing campaign of cryptic posters and chalk stencils across North America to raise intrigue around the campaign.

Outcome

Our company revenue and staff grew 100% and multiple new clients were acquired. Within 2 weeks of launch the site received 100,000 pageviews and to date, 535,000. The unique visitors grew 745% the first month of launch and the average time spent is over 6 minutes. At the end, users are invited to share their ideas for the next chapter. They have been truly engaged, sending in incredibly creative ideas. As part of the larger narrative, a selection of ideas will help shape future chapters enabling Secret Location to scale the promotional project over time, directly shaped by audience input.
