Description
Prove the amazing control of Alfa Romeo’s AWD system by showing real vehicles dancing on ice. Use a hauntingly romantic rendition of Chris Isaac’s “Wicked Game” to show the vehicles falling in love with each other as the viewer falls in love with them.
Execution
The most important aspect of this production was ensuring every movement could be executed practically. To prove AWD performance, we needed viewers to realize these two Alfa Romeos performed every dance move without special effects. An Olympic ice rink is less than 100 feet wide—not a lot of room for two dancing vehicles plus a camera car. Although we had an initial game plan, the dance was essentially choreographed on the spot as we saw what the cars could actually do and how their love could evolve as the song climaxed.
Our intention was to make the dance and music feel like peeking in on a forbidden romance; to show vehicles made of sheet metal and steel somehow displaying complex human emotions; and to create a performance to remember.
Outcome
“Wicked Game” was the #4 most Shazamed song of the week, according to Clio. The spot earned more than 10 million organic YouTube views. And sales increased by almost 250% over the same period the previous year.
