Background
The task was to create the first global Christmas film for Lidl that would be understood in all markets.
A global narrative pattern, the "hero's journey", serves as the basis for an emotional spot.
In our spot, we send a little raccoon on his very own hero's journey to save Christmas for an entire family with the help of Lidl.
Execution
We were aked to create a very cute and likable raccoon as a photorealistic digital animal.
We quickly realized that we needed to take a thorough approach in each step of the production. We started with traditional 2D sketches, proceeded with a complete previz, created sculpted muscles, dynamic skin and hair simulations, and used stand-ins on set. We did it all the feature-film-way.
Outcome
The film focuses on the special feeling that unites people in many countries at Christmas. It shows the power of a small gesture and creates a cozy, Christmassy feeling in the viewer.
